REHABILITATION TECHNICIAN

GINIW WAAKAA'IGAN (GOLDEN EAGLE HOUSE)

RED LAKE VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SERVICES

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

To provide support to rehabilitation counseling staff; may include assignments with client intake and outreach with the goal of assisting in services to achieve vocational goal. This is a full-time position that includes benefits (medical, dental, eye, life insurance, 401k, long-term disability, & workers compensation). This position does not have supervisory responsibility, reports to Director, full-time position w/benefits, salary: DOQ.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for interpreting and understanding State, Federal and Agency policies and procedures.

• Conducts necessary research to assist in counseling and placement techniques to achieve an employment outcome.

• Responsible for documenting services to person(s) with disabilities in collaboration with community service provides potential employment sites and business leaders.

• Responsible for observing and assessing in the work place potential dangers of disabling conditions and indicate preventive and corrective measures.

• Possess a thorough understanding of job requirements and employment trends.

• Possess ability to conduct research regarding medical and psychological implications of disabilities as well as medical and psychological terminology so education, awareness and literature can be provided.

• Familiar with the use and interpretation of psychometric testing.

• Attends all training and workshops as scheduled.

• Familiar with Worker's Compensation and Social Security laws and regulations.

• Provides administrative requirements such as statistical management/client data entry, completes necessary forms, and writes correspondence, memorandums and activity reports.

• Keeps current on the availability of financial resources, including assigned Case Service funds budget and other outside resources.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid Minnesota Drivers License and current auto insurance.

• College Degree; or three years disability related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Knowledge and demonstrated experience in problems solving.

• Demonstrated ability to work well with target population.

• Possess excellent communication and verbal skills as well as a moderate level of managerial skills.

• Possess a current driver's license with auto insurance.

• Knowledge of the morals and customs of Indian people and have the ability to generate an appreciation of cultural difference.

• MUST maintain strict confidentiality requirements at all times.

• Zero tolerance for drug, alcohol and substance abuse in the workplace (according to the Tribal policy and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973), which subjects all staff to random drug testing.
