James Lee Roper, Sr., 52 years old, of Bemidji, formerly of Cass Lake, entered the spirit world on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Bemidji. He was born on June 13, 1961 in Redwood Falls, MN, the son of Jack and Carol (Peters) Roper.

Jim grew up in Minneapolis until the 1980's when he moved to the Leech Lake Reservation. He enjoyed fishing, setting traps, watching the Minnesota Vikings, Ultimate Cage boxing matches, and visiting with his grandchildren. Jim played basketball, softball and football during his younger years. He enjoyed going to the movie theater with his wife, kids and grandchildren. Jim worked various jobs as a cook ,. painter, cleaning cabins, security guard, slot technician, and vehicle test driver.

Jim will be joining his loved ones in the spirit world who include his father; Jack Roper, Sr., brother; Jack Roper, Jr., his best friends; Jim "Bubba" Adams and Danny Hardy. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim is survived by his mother; Carol Roper of Webster, WI, sister; Shari Roper (Charlie) of Siren, WI, sons; James, Jr. of Cass Lake, Sheldon of Rush City, Jordan of Red Lake, Chaskae of Wilkonson, step sons; Thomas (Brittany) Adams, Timothy (Ashley) Adams both of Cass Lake, daughters; Jamie lee, Rochelle (Boomer), Gahshi (Mike) all of Cass Lake, Mandy, Lacie both of Minneapolis, Kaylynn of Rochester, Sara of Webster, WI, step daughters; Tammi Adams, Leann Rose Dick both of Cass Lake. Jim is also survived by his wife and best friend Jean of 22 years of Cass Lake.

A wake service for Jim will begin at 1:00 Friday, October 10, 2014 and continue until the 11:00 a.m. service on Saturday, October 11, all at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Father George Ross will officiate. Interment will be held in the Staples-Fairbanks Cemetery at Mission/Cass Lake. Those helping to lay him to rest are active pallbearers: Tom Adams, Timothy Adams, Boomer Jackson, Howard Hardy, James Roper, Jr., Charlie Braman, Rob Adams, Sr. and Frank Oothoudt. Honorary pallbearers are: Charlie Robinson, Dr. Salter, Michael Bellanger, all his grandchildren, the Club House Staff, and the Dialysis Staff.
