Kenneth "Beans" LaFriniere, age 61, of Mahnomen, MN died Friday, October 3, 2014 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.

Kenny LaFriniere, the son of Mary (Chmelar) and Joseph LaFriniere, was born on December 16, 1952 in Mahnomen. He grew up in the Naytahwaush, MN area and attended school in both Naytahwaush and Mahnomen. On February 6, 1971 Beans was united in marriage to Bonnie Stevens. The couple made their home near Roy Lake MN and raised their family. Beans attended vocational school in Detroit Lakes, MN, studying to be a chef. He later co-owned and served as the chef at Angelina's resultant in Bagley, MN. As a jack of all trades, Beans also worked with Eckhoff construction, was a logger, and was employed doing tile work with Pat Sullivan. In 1987, he also worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska.

He was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He also spent countless hours leeching, trapping, and ricing. In his spare time, Beans liked to go to the casino and cooking wonderful meals for his family. Beyond all else, his true love was his family. He was raising many of his grandchildren and attended all of their sporting and school events, especially cheering at the football games. He was a great role model to many and helped several neighborhood kids get on the right track. Beans was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the hearts of many.

He is survived by three daughters: Sherry (Steve) Halberg, Bagley, Carol LaFriniere, and Nicole (Darrel Alvarado) LaFriniere both of Mahnomen; one son, Hawk (Jessi Gagnon) LaFriniere, also Roy Lake; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Judy Roy of Carlton, MN, Leroy (Pamela) LaFriniere of Roy Lake, Amelia (Herb) Roy of Roy Lake, Jim (Gloria) LaFriniere of Bagley, MN, Richard (Connie) LaFriniere of Roy Lake, and Deb (Cleve) Goodwin of Bagley. Beans was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; two brothers, Robert and Ronald; two sisters, Marilyn Goodwin and Barbara Windecker; a brother-in-law, John Roy; a sister-in-law, Lucille LaFriniere; and his old trusting hunting dog, Oscar.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anne's on Saturday Morning. Burial will take place at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery.
