Southeastern Art Show, Market Opens in Tishomingo Oct. 3

The 2014 Chickasaw Nation Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) opens at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, on the historic Chickasaw Capitol grounds in Tishomingo.

Hosted by the Chickasaw Nation during the Chickasaw Nation 54th Annual Meeting and 26th Chickasaw Festival, the juried art competition and market will also be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4.

More than 60 adult and youth artists from Southeastern and Woodland tribes will be participating, displaying art in two-dimensional or three-dimensional categories.

Established in 2005, SEASAM provides a place where professional Native American artists can express themselves through art, preserving their cultural identity through fine art and provide attendees a greater awareness of cultural traditions.
