Smith, Desjarlait advance to the Run Off Election in Red Lake

The unofficial results of the September 17, 2014 election saw Robert Smith receiving the most votes with 198, followed by Donald Desjarlait with 110, Lee Lussier with 105, Clem May with 76, Julie Stately with 61, Cherlyn Spears with 31 and Deanna Lasley with 17.

Since no candidate received 51% of the votes tallied, there will be a run-off election between Smith and Desjarlait.

The results won't become official until certified by the Election Board, at which time the Run Off Election will be scheduled--probably sometime in October. The winner of that race will serve until 2016.

There were just 598 total votes cast for the 2-year Red Lake Representative seat formerly held by Donald "Dudie" May, compared to 1119 votes cast in the August 2014 Run Off Election between Roman Stately and Robert Smith.

Smith lost to Stately by 133 votes.
