Sex offender moving to Cass Lake

CASS LAKE -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office has issued a notification that a level three sex offender will be moving to the Cass Lake area Oct. 1. A community notification meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 in the commons area of the Cass Lake-Bena High School.

James Tacumseh Littlewolf, 26, has a history of sexual contact with adolescent female victims, according to a release from the sheriff's office. He was known to his victims.

Littlewolf was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 13-year-old victim in 2007. He is presently incarcerated at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Rush City.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office releases information on Littlewolf pursuant to Minnesota Statute 244.052, which authorizes the release of information when it is thought to enhance public safety and protection. Littlewolf is not wanted by the law enforcement and has served the sentence imposed on him by the court.

There are three levels of offenders based on the individual's risk to reoffend. Level one carries a lower risk to the public, level two is moderate and three is higher. Littlewolf is required to register as a sex offender.
