Job Opening: Part Time Interviewer

"Gathering For Health" is a grant funded research project including several American Indian communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota Medical School-Duluth. The study involves survey interviews and other data collection procedures (including cortisol, a stress hormone found in saliva) that will be used to help us understand the ways that stress impacts diabetes. We are currently looking for one male and one female Part-Time Lead Survey Interviewer.

Persons interested in this position should:

• Understand the flexible, part-time nature of the position

• Like working with people

• Have reliable transportation with insurance and be willing to make multiple trips between participant homes, the clinic, etc., sometimes all in a single day.

• Be comfortable working with computers (survey data will be collected via laptops)

• Be willing to maintain a flexible schedule and be available afternoons, evenings, weekends and mornings

• Must be able to attend ALL 3 days of training: Wednesday, October 22nd – Friday, October 24th, 2014 Training will be held at Black Bear Casino (Carlton, MN) AND "booster" training sessions every 6 months or so, as needed.

• Ideally, be willing to commit to the project for its duration – data collection continues through early 2017

• Be comfortable demonstrating saliva collection procedures, assisting participants as needed with this process, and handling tubes containing saliva

• Maintain accurate record-keeping/tracking

• Maintain regular communication with local project coordinator, clinic staff and UMD coordinator

Pay Information:

• Pay rate is $15/hour (recorded and submitted on timesheets)

• Mileage will be reimbursed at a rate of 0.56/mile

• Timesheets will be processed every 2 weeks

Applicants will be invited to attend the Red Lake Community Research Council (CRC) meeting on September 4, 2014 for interviews. The CRC interviews will be held starting at 6:00pm, at Seven Clan Red Lake (applicants will be contacted for time and location of meeting room).
