Southeastern Art Show deadline Sept. 7

The application deadline for the 2014 Chickasaw Nation Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, is Friday, Sept. 7.

Adults and youth from any Southeastern and Woodland tribe are encouraged to enter the competition in the two-dimensional or three-dimensional categories.

Artists may enter up to two works per category. Categories include two dimensional art such as paintings, drawings, photography and graphics. Three dimensional art includes sculpture, jewelry (metal and stone), jewelry (beaded) pottery, textiles, contemporary fashion. Cultural art includes baskets, beadwork/quillwork, flutes, traditional dress, drums, weaponry and adornment regalia.

The youth artist competition is open to students enrolled in a public, private or home schooled high school and will be 14-17 years old by Sept. 1, 2014.

Hosted by the Chickasaw Nation during the tribe's 54th Annual Meeting and 26th Chickasaw Festival, the juried art competition and market will be Oct. 3-4 on the tribe's historic capitol grounds in Tishomingo.

Participating artists will display their work in the SEASAM tent from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4.
