PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Reports to the Department of Public Safety Director, full-time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains and demonstrates technical competence/ and or expertise in area of assigned responsibilities.

• Responsible for concepts and standards of police operations, evidence, crime scenes.

• Must have ability to relate to people in a manner that allows for cooperation and coordination in the performance of their duties as well as make decisions on information gathered from individuals.

• Responsible for organizing and recording relevant information.

• Determines necessary actions by notifying appropriate authorities, safeguard scenes, preserve evidence, identify and obtain information from witnesses and develops preliminary investigative leads.

• Assists SOR Project Coordinator/Monitor with service of notification to register and with registration of sex offenders.

• Serve Tribal and Federal Warrants, assist in serving court process, appear and testify in Tribal or Federal Court as needed.

• Knowledge and skill in professional techniques in dealing with individuals in criminal matters with public in crisis and/or hostile situations.

• Assist SOR Project Coordinator/Monitor with Public Notification of sex offenders.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• MUST HAVE CERTIFICATION AS A POLICE OFFICER.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Must be familiar with Tribal, State and Federal Laws, specifically sex offender laws.

• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written from, with coworkers, supervisors and other law enforcement agencies.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.

• No felony or crimes of violence convictions.

• Must possess a valid driver's license with no gross misdemeanor violations in the last three years.

• Must be physically capable of handling job requirements.

• Employment contingent upon successfully passing Pre-Employment Drug/Alcohol Test and Background Check.
