Sex Offender Registry Compliance Officer
Department of Public Safety

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Reports to the Department of Public Safety Director, full-time position w/benefits, salary; DOQ.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain list of sex offenders and obtain current information.
• Maintain database with current information, including photographs and other pertinent information.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled compliance checks.
• Conduct investigations with law enforcement personnel, prepare reports, and make recommendations to Tribal Court when necessary.
• Notify sex offenders of their responsibility to register with Red Lake Law Enforcement and monitor their adherence to the Tribal Code.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings, as scheduled.
• Maintain policies to promote strict confidentiality.
• Coordinate team meetings with sex offender registry committee.
• Monitor sex offender court cases, review court records, monitor and maintain sex offender registrations, conduct face to face interviews with offenders to gather information.
• Process reports and gather statistical information on sex offenders.
• Maintain working relationship with neighboring law enforcement agencies.
• Maintain accurate knowledge base of tribal and federal statutes related to sex offender registry.
• Receives, directs and resolves citizen complaints or concerns.
• Other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in working with sex offenders and law enforcement.
• Must be familiar with Tribal, State and Federal Laws, regarding sex offenders.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written from, with coworkers, supervisors and other law enforcement agencies.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• No felony or crimes of violence convictions.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with no gross misdemeanor violations in the last three years and auto insurance.
• Must be willing to attend training and travel to mandatory workshops.
• Must be willing to work with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of general office management practices and procedures.
• Website management.
