Joseph William Dick Jr., 66, of Laporte, MN, died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji, MN.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 3:00 pm, Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Veteran's Memorial Building, with a wake service at 7:00pm, and will continue until the time of the service. Cremation following the service and arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji. Traditional Quechan burial will take place in Ft. Yuma, AZ at a later date.

He was born on February 7, 1948, in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Joseph Sr. and Emily Frances (Helip) Dick. He was raised and educated in Cass Lake. He enlisted in the US Army and when he was discharged moved to Minneapolis. He began working for Northwestern Bell as a lineman. He worked for over 25 years as the company became US West and later Qwest. Upon his retirement in 2000 he moved to the Cass Lake area. He was a member of the Jack Kimball American Legion Post of Cass Lake, and the Ira Hayes American Legion Post of Sacaton, AZ. He was looking forward to spending his winters in Winterhaven, CA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, guns, target shooting, traveling, and going out to eat.

He is survived by: his children, William Dick, Rita (Joey Lee) Dick, Nakia Tellinghuisen, Ira Smart, Siblings, Rosie Reed, Patsy (Benedict) Beaulieu of Red Lake, MN, Bonita (Norm) DeWeaver, Maxine (Donald Fairbanks) Day, Elaine (Ben) Gotchie, Arnold "Arnie" Dick, Grandchildren, William Franklin Dick, and Willow Grace Lee, Numerous Nieces and Nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tony Dick, Melvin Dick, and Lester Dick.
