Leonard Owen Tanner, Jr., 61, of Duluth, MN formerly of Cass Lake, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, June 15, 2014. He was born on December 10, 1952 in Cass Lake, the son of Leonard and Leona Tanner.

Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, beading, and being on facebook. He was a simple man who cared for everyone.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn in 2001, grandparents on both sides, his parents Leonard and Leona and one grandson Joe Jourdain.

He is survived by his step children, sisters; Lois (Bob) Jourdain of Cass Lake, and Alice Graham of Fargo, 24 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and one uncle Melvin (Shelly) Goodman of Pennington.

A wake service for Leonard will begin at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014 and continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Wednesday all at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Mike Dahl will be the spiritual leader. Interment will be held in the Tanner family cemetery at Oak Point. Pallbearers will be Tony Mainville, Kevin Mainville, Joe Jourdain, Jeremy Jourdain, Dean Jourdain and Waase Lightfeather. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his family and friends.
