Fern R. Pemberton, 91 of Cass Lake, MN died Monday, May 26, 2014 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake, MN with Fr. Kuriakose Nediakala officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Fern was born June 12, 1922 in Waubun, MN the daughter of William and Rowena (Gagnon) Boldt. She attended school in Waubun Elementary, St. Benedicts School in White Earth, Flandreau Indian School in South Dakota and graduated from Waubun High School in 1939. She married Merle Pemberton February 9, 1941 in Big Elbow Lake Village, MN. She worked for General Motors for 20 years; retiring in 1976. They lived in Wisconsin and moved back to our area in 1998 living on Leech Lake. There final move was to live in Cass Lake in 2000. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake. Any where they lived, she would seek out their catholic church; her Christianity was very dear to her. She enjoyed embroidery, crafts, quilting, cake decorating for family events and doing upholstery. She also spent time visiting those in need; at the hospital or at their homes. She was a truly lovely woman, inside and out.

She is survived by her son Merle "Butch" (Kathy) Pemberton of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Donita (Harold) Rochol of New Berlin, WI; 5 sisters Marge McKeever of Cambria, CA, Kathy (Herb) Wagner of Spokane, WA, Judy Helmuth of Spokane, WA, Donna Hayes of Topeka, KS and Billie Sue Maracua of Georgia; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David, brother Joseph Boldt and sisters Thamer Alexander, Audrey Phitzener and Mary Helen McKeever.
