Free Paint Awarded for Community Restoration Projects

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF) recently announced awards of free paint for community fix-up and restoration projects. Through a collaborative effort with the Valspar Corporation and the "Minnesota Beautiful" program, paint and other coating materials necessary for rehabilitation activities will be given to local towns and organizations.

"We're very pleased to help sponsor this program for another year," said Nancy Vyskocil, NMF president. "These community beautification projects add significant social and cultural value to places throughout our region. We are very grateful to Valspar for their generous contribution."

Awards of 238 gallons of free paint were made by Valspar and the NMF for the following projects:

* Marshall County Group Homes, Inc., Fresh Paint

* Lake Itasca Region Pioneer Farmers, Fairbanks/Morris and Hemmerich Logging Buildings

* McIntosh Heritage and Arts Center, Historic McIntosh Public School Auditorium Rehabilitation

* Flom Township, Community Building revitalization

* Thief River Falls Eagles Aerie 2368, Event Hall

* Beltrami Humane Society, Fresh Paint

* Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Fresh Paint

"Valspar was very impressed with the quality of the proposals that were submitted again this year," said Susan Carter, manager of the Valspar Foundation. "Although we couldn't help every applicant, the projects we did select will have positive impact on the visual character of several communities in the region."

The Northwest Minnesota Foundation invests resources, facilitates collaboration, and promotes philanthropy to make the region a better place to live and work.
