Anna Lucille Grimes-Johns, 73, began her journey to the Spirit World at The Red Lake Hospital on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She was born on August 2, 1940 in Red Lake, Minnesota. The daughter of Frank Johns and Philomene Lajeunesse.

Anna left Red Lake at the age of 14, and she resided in Minneapolis, MN and worked as a waitress for years. Anna moved to Chicago where she married Jim Grimes on January 16, 1962 and raised 3 of her sons. Then in the late '60s, she moved back to Minneapolis, MN, where she had her last 3 kids. She then moved to Illinois where she was a homemaker before coming to Red Lake to work for the Red Lake Mills as a truck driver. Anna moved back to Minneapolis, MN where she worked for Honey Well, then retired. She then moved back to Red Lake area, where she made her home. She worked at the Red Lake ENP as a clerk.

She liked to play keno. Anna enjoyed playing Slotomania and Bejeweled on the computer daily. She was a very active lady. Anna did various things in her life such as truck driving, motorcycle riding, stock car racing, trapping, ricing, and spending time with family and friends. She raised a special granddaughter, Bryanna Grimes.

She was survived by ex-husband James Grimes of Illinois, sons; Gary Grimes of Cottage Grove, James (Jodi) Grimes, Jr, of Minneapolis, Donald (Kerry) Grimes of Prairie Island, Robert (Joanne) Grimes of Illinois, and Dennis (Michele) Grimes of Illinois, daughter; Denise (Tim) Grimes of Red Lake, sisters; Mary Rose Skinaway and Geraldine (Dutch) Brun of Red Lake, brothers; Joseph Johns and Lawrence (Judith) Lajeunesse of Red Lake, and Arnold Lajeunesse of Bemidji, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, a special grandchild Valerie BryAnn Stately and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Philomene Johns, sisters Susan Spears, Evelyn 'Evie' Spears, Ramona Lajeunesse, Elizabeth Lajeunesse, her brothers Simon 'Zeke' Johns, Philip Johns, Walter Lajeunesse and Edward James Lajeunesse.

An all night wake will begin at 10: a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Red Lake Community Center. Mass of Christian Burial for Anna Johns will be held on Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake. Father Jerry Rogers will be the celebrant. Helping to lay Anna's to rest are her casket bearers Brent Schoenborn, Brian Holthusen, Jr., Brian Holthusen, Sr., Virgil Skinaway, Sr., Quintin Johns, Dennis Grimes, Mike Johns, and Franklin Skinaway, Sr. Anna's honorary casket bearers will be Dorothy Cobenais, Priscilla Stately, Diana M. Graves, Valerie Johns, Nicole Johns, Kelly Skinaway, James Grimes, Sr., Shelly Johns, Simone Johns and Melody Koste.
