FLOODING CLOSES LOOKOUT TOWER RD NE

Due to erosion and a culvert being compromised by flood waters, a portion of Lookout Tower Rd NE (County Road 300) has been closed by the Beltrami County Highway Department as of Sunday morning and will be closed until flood waters recede and repairs can be made. The closure is from Snow Hill Ln NE on the east end to approximately two miles west of Scenic Highway (County Road 39) on the west end at the S-Curves.

Temperatures are expected to remain near or below freezing for most of the week which will result in slowing the melt of the remaining snow, but the melt is well under way and the cooler temperatures will only prolong the affects.

If you encounter additional flooded roadways, do not drive through them. “TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!” As little as six inches of flowing water can knock you off your feet, and a foot of flowing water will float most cars. If you observe flooding that hasn’t already been reported contact the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office at 218-333-9111.
