NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION OFFERS NONPROFIT ASSISTANCE FUND OPEN OFFICE HOURS

Bemidji, MN - March 26, 2014 - The Northwest Minnesota Foundation is offering any nonprofit organization the opportunity to schedule an appointment in Bemidji with a financial expert from the Nonprofit Assistance Fund on April 22 and April 23. The goal is to provide free financial assistance sessions to help nonprofits answer immediate questions, increase understanding of an organization's financial situation, and provide insight to financial concerns.

Nonprofits Assistance Fund Loan Officer/Financial Specialist Lao Lu Hang will provide strategic financial guidance and technical assistance to nonprofit staff on a variety of financial topics including accountability, budgets and financial planning, loans and facilities, financial analysis, management and reporting, financial strategy and business models, financial fundamentals, policy, and sustainability, among others.

Lu worked as a Loan Officer for First Children's Finance, a national nonprofit that helps children thrive and learn by forging relationships that bring economic power and viability to the business of childcare. Prior to joining First Children's Finance, Lu was Executive Director of the MN Hmong Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of Commercial Banking at Western Bank.

These 45 minute appointments will be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by contacting Dawn Ganje, dawng@nwmf.org or 218-759-2057. The appointments will be held at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, 201 3rd St. NW Bemidji. Mileage reimbursement will be considered for those traveling more than 40 miles.
