Philip Jay James Fairbanks, Ajidamoo "Squirrel", 66, of Laporte, MN began his spiritual journey at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was born on August 15, 1947 in Cass Lake, the son of Edward James Ethel Mae Fairbanks.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents; Edward James and Ethel Mae Fairbanks, brothers; Bruce Wayne, Edward James and Darrel Michael, sisters; Genie Fairbanks and Beatrice Ring.

Philip loved his wife and spending time with her. He enjoyed watching animals especially seeing the deer in the yard. Philip was the commander of the Walker American Legion Post 134 and also served at the Chaplain for the post for many years.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Mary Ann Fairbanks of Laporte, stepson; Randy (Michelle) Kawakami of Cass Lake, brothers; Kenneth (Roberta) Fairbanks of Cass Lake, Douglas Fairbanks of Minneapolis, Roger (Valerie) Fairbanks of Hackensack, Joe Redwing of Minneapolis, sisters; Hope Thompson of Deer River, Cynthia (Mike) Cervantes of Las Angelus, Ernestine Day Raymond of Walker, and Theodora Redwing of Cass Lake, step grandchildren; Michael McGinnis, Nicole Collins and Jordan Collins, Godson; Albert Kingbird II, namesake; Philip Jay Thompson, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A wake service for Philip will begin at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014 and will continue until the 1:00 service on Wednesday, February 12 all at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Rev. Mark R. Olson will officiate. Active Pallbearers for Philip will be Randy Kawakami, Doug Fairbanks, Victor Thompson, Albert Kingbird and Philip Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews. Interment will be held in the Fairbanks Cemetery in Cass Lake later in the spring. Military honors will be accorded by the Leech Lake American Legion Post and the Walker American Legion Post 134.
