CAR SEAT GIVEAWAY

The Bemidji Police Department has received a grant through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety/Child Passenger Safety Program of approximately 50 car seats. These seats are to be given away to families in need. The seats are valued between $25 and $55. There are a variety of seats and they will be given out in coordination with a child’s age and weight.

The Bemidji Police Department will give away car seats to low-income families in the area. Seats will be provided to families on September 28th, 2013 by appointment.

The appointment will consist of a video watched by parents, educational material and proper installation of the child seat. Each appointment will take between 40-60 minutes.

To learn more about the program’s income guidelines and to make an appointment to receive a seat, contact either Officer Michelle Leffelman at 333-8367 or Officer Tabitha Carrigan at 333-8309.

There are a limited number of appointments and seats to give away.
