Stanley Cup Champion Nick Leddy to Bring The Cup Home to Minnesota to Share Celebration with Friends, Family and Fans

Several Public/Media Stops Highlight the Minnesota Native’s Victory Lap Around the Twin Cities

Minneapolis, MN (July 10, 2013) – The Stanley Cup, professional sport’s oldest and most revered trophy is coming to Minnesota July 11-12. As the tradition goes, each member of the Stanley Cup winning team gets the Cup for period of approximately 24 hours to do with it what they choose. Chicago Blackhawks defenseman and Eden Prairie, Minn native Nick Leddy will be bringing the Stanley Cup to his hometown to put the cap one of the world’s most celebrate team sports accomplishments. Leddy will be the 30th Minnesota native to have his name etched on the coveted trophy.

Leddy, who is represented by Minneapolis-based I-C-E Hockey Agency is a real testament to what hard work can bring people, said his agent Paul Ostby (@icehockeyagency), who along with Neil Sheehy (@icehockeyagent) represent more than 30 professional hockey players. “This is Nick’s shining moment. It’s been our pleasure to have a front row seat to his development,” said Ostby. “Nick is a wonderful role model and a great ambassador to Minnesota hockey.”

Leddy, who starred for the Eden Prairie Eagles and University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, prior to signing with the Blackhawks, will be bringing the Stanley Cup to several stops over its two day visit where the public and media can get an up close view of the Lord Stanley’s Cup. “It is an honor for me to be able to bring the Stanley Cup home with me and share in the victory with all of those people who have helped me get to where I am as a player and as a person,” said Leddy. “It is very important to me to share this celebration with my friends, family and the entire State of Hockey.”

Thursday, July 11:

• 3:30 to 4 p.m. Leddy will bring the Stanley Cup to one of his endorsement partners at Shock Doctor Corporate Headquarters

110 Cheshire Lane, Suite 200, in Minnetonka.

• 4 to 4:30 p.m. Leddy and the Cup will travel to Maynard’s at 685 Excelsior Blvd, in Excelsior.

• 8:30 to 10 p.m. The Cup will accompany Leddy to Brits Pub at 1110 Nicolet Mall in downtown Minneapolis.

• 10 to 11:30 p.m. The Cup will make its final appearance of the night at SEVEN Sushi Ultra Lounge and Skybar at

700 Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis.

Friday, July 12:

• 9 a.m. to Noon: The Media is invited to the home of Mike and Lisa Reilly 9701 Meadowlark Lane in Chanhassen on Lake Reilly, to cover the Cup’s visit to Minnesota and to interview Nick Leddy. Note: this is a private gathering – with invitations and access available to MEDIA MEMBERS ONLY.

• Noon to 2 p.m. Leddy and the Stanley Cup will return to where it all started, Eden Prairie Ice Arena at 16700 Valley View Road for a meet and greet with players and supporters of the Eden Prairie Hockey Association.

• 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Leddy will bring the Stanley Cup to visit patients at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital.

• 4 to 5 p.m. Leddy and the Cup will head to Bierman Building at the University of Minnesota, located at 516 15th Ave SE, to share in his accomplishments with former teammates, coaches and fans.

About Nick Leddy:

Nick Leddy, currently a defenseman for the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks is a Native of Minnesota who starred for the Eden Prairie Eagles Boys Hockey Team enroute to their 2009 Class AA State championship. That same year Leddy was also named the recipient of the prestigious Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award, given annually to the state’s best prep hockey player. Leddy then moved on to the University of Minnesota where he was named the Gophers Rookie of the Year in 2009-2010 when he played in 30 games and registered 11 points. During his lone collegiate season, Leddy had his rights traded from the Minnesota Wild to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Wild had picked Leddy with the 16th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. After leaving the University of Minnesota, Leddy signed with the Blackhawks where he has played three seasons totaling 13 goals and 49 assists.
