Hwy 1 Mud River Bridge .5 miles east of Redby will close on Tuesday, June 11th

Will be closed for 3 to 10 days, but should reopen on Friday, June 14th

REDBY - The Highway 1 Mud River Bridge, also known as the Redby Dam Bridge, will be closed for traffic starting at 9 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. The bridge is scheduled to be closed for 3 to 10 days,

Signs posted near the construction area read that the bridge would close on Monday, June 10, 2013, but according to Gordon Jallen, General Manager of Red Lake Builders, he stated it would not close until the following day, Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 9 AM. Jallen stated people that worked in the morning should still be able to get to work on this day.

Jallen further stated that although the contracters have 3 to 10 days to complete the work required, they were confident the bridge would reopen by late Friday afternoon.

Alternative routes and detours will be in place for traffic to take County Road 23 off the reservation, connecting to County Road 32, which connects to Highway 89. Since MnDOT does not utilize Indian Service Roads in their detours, the best route would be to go through Nebish on Indian Service 40, turn on County Road 32, and Highway 89 which would lead into Red Lake.

If anything should change in the meantime, this information will be passed on immediately on RLNN and on Facebook.

From the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office

Construction work on a bridge on Hwy 1 on the Red Lake Reservation, which will cause a long detour for those coming from the east going west to Redby (special attention to those who live in or near Ponemah) proper, will commence on Tuesday June 11 through Friday June 14. Depending on weather it may take a bit longer (up to 10 days). The purpose of the closure of this bridge which spans the Mud River which streams from Lower Red Lake going south is to install a larger culvert to handle drainage and protect the roadway from erosion. Please note there are limited signs posted on Highway 1 regarding this so please pass on to friends and neighbors who drive through. Northern Engineering and Consulting of Bemidji is working with MNDOT on this project.

The detour to get to Red Lake from east of Redby will entail driving south to to Irvine Ave (Co Rd 15), west on Lumberjack Rd NW (Co Rd 32) and north on Hwy 89 in order to get around to other side.

IN the City of Bemidji sewer construction continues on Wood Ave SE between 1st St SE and 3rd St SE with access via alley or from side streets. That should be done by the end of this week depending on weather.
