Annual Bike Rally for Suicide Prevention July 6

The annual Red Lake Bike Rally for Suicide Prevention is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013. Riders will gather at the Red Lake Fire Department near the Red Lake Hospital. Riders will lead the 2013 Red Lake Nation Independence Day Celebration parade.

This "Suicide Prevention Fundraiser" has been very successful over the last several years. According to organizer, Bill May, funds raised will be utilized to assist people in suicide crisis. "People involved in this fundraiser are all community members, sponsors, programs and private individuals donating time and dollars to make this happen," said May.

The donation of $25.00 per bike, and $10.00 additional riders, includes some nice features. The route will start and conclude at Red Lake Fire Department. The "ride route" will be approximately 140 miles with some of the most beautiful and scenic scenery of Northern Minnesota and Red Lake Nation. Halfway point will be the beautiful area known as "The Point" in the Ponemah community.

At the conclusion of the ride, riders will enjoy a "Famous Red Lake Walleye" fish fry. There will also be prize drawings by organizers and community members, and include music by local musicians.
