Christine (Fairbanks) Pederson, age 75 of St. Paul

Christine passed into the spirit world peacefully on Sunday March 17, 2013, after a 4 year struggle with leukemia.

Christine was born in Deer River Minnesota and attended school at the Flandreau Indian School. At various times in her life, she lived on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation, in Minneapolis, in Greenbush, and in Redwood City, California. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and going to the casino. She walked daily, and could often be spotted wearing a leopard print scarf or sequined hat. She expressed her observations on life with a repertoire of irreverent and humorous sayings.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother Jesse Lyons, brothers Leonard Fairbanks and Alfred Lyons, and sister Eleanor Wilson. She is survived by her brother Ted Lyons, her children Duane Fairbanks, Maryanna Harstad, Michael Pederson, Cheryl Pederson, Dwight (Valerie) Pederson, and grandchildren Eli, Aaron, Louisa and Madison.

Wake service will be on Wednesday March 20 at 7:30 pm with dinner to follow. Funeral mass will be held Thursday March 21 at 10 am. Both will be at Gichitwaa Kateri Church, 3045 Park Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55407. Interment will be at a later date in northern Minnesota. Memorials preferred to the Dorothy Day Center in St. Paul, Minnesota or to the family.
