A Message from the Treasurer's Office

Effective Immediately

* * PUBLIC NOTICE * *

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

FROM: TREASURER DARRELL SEKI, SR.

I have been informed by my accounting staff that individuals are demanding checks immediately upon submital of paperwork to the Accounting Department and in some cases; demands were made before any paperwork was received. This is becoming an increasingly personal safety issue for my staff.

I have instituted a new procedure for check pick-up. Program Directors, or their designated representative, are now being mandated to pick-up all checks that are requested from their program, including payroll checks. All phone calls or inquiries are being referred to the programs. They will let you know if your check is ready for disbursement.

There is a three (3) day processing period for checks from Accounts Payable. Checks generated from Accounts Payable may include, but are not limited to, child support, foster care, contract for service, mileage, travel, child care, forestry, General Assistance, reimbursement requests, etc.

Threats to staff will not be tolerated and may result in criminal prosecution and/or civil penalties. It can also include being banned from the Accounting building.

The Accounting Technicians and Payroll Clerks process hundreds of checks for the Red Lake Band. I am requesting your patience and consideration for all the work they do on a daily basis.
