Taos Municipal Schools joined a growing grassroots effort Tuesday (Dec. 12) when the board voted during a regular meeting to adopt a resolution recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day on the second Monday in October, federally recognized as Columbus Day. The resolution that hit the desks of the district’s public schools and three charter schools was the work of two Vista Grande High School students. LINCOLN — Activists involved in shutting down beer sales in Whiteclay called on the state to do more to not only end bootlegging of alcohol in the area, but to investigate unsolved slayings in the unincorporated village. Each year as Christmas Day approaches, Puyallup Tribal Councilmember Sylvia Miller organizes a giveaway event for our area’s homeless population, and she carried that legacy forth this year on Saturday morning, Dec. 16. PHOENIX — The FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying the remains of a man who died in a fire earlier this month on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation.
