DULUTH-A Red Lake man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in federal prison for kidnapping and assaulting three people on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in February 2015. The longtime chairwoman of the White Earth Band of Chippewa has resigned. The tribal council voted 3-0 to accept Erma Vizenor's resignation. She was censured in late December for working outside her scope of authority over a new constitution and faced an ouster from her position. Vizenor became chairwoman in 2004.
