After a stellar 30-year career at the Bemidji Pioneer, the community's photographer of record, Monte Draper, is hanging up his lens. At least for awhile, he says. And he's going out on top. On Monday, June 1, 2015 a Groud Breaking Ceremony and Ground Blessing was held for the new Redby Community Center, which is scheduled to be completed in about a year. THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. -- A man at the center of an hours-long standoff Thursday in Thief River Falls has turned himself in. Eric James Reinbold, 38, of Oklee, Minn., was arrested at the Pennington County Jail in Thief River Falls around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. BAXTER, Minn. -- In a first-of-its-kind operation in the Brainerd lakes area, law enforcement arrested nine men in a prostitution sting in Baxter late last month. Patrick James Buswell walked away from a minimum-security unit at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Stillwater on June 12. He was a grounds crew worker, and while working, walked away from his crew and left institution grounds. Buswell, age 40, is serving a 60-month sentence for a weapons offense.
