On Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at approximately 8:00 AM., the Beltrami County Sheriff’s office 911 center received a phone call from the proprietor of the Wilton Liquor Store, located at 284 Spirit Ave., Northwest, Wilton, Minnesota, reporting that the business had been entered and burglarized. The city of Wilton is located approximate 5 miles west of the city of Bemidji. Beltrami County deputies responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. On Monday, April 2015, from 9:15 to about 11:30 a.m., the Red Lake Tribal Council met with the youth of the Nation at the Red Lake Middle School. During the "Chairman's Community Meetings" held in all districts the Tribal Council indicated they would meet with youth to get their perspective on the issues before the tribe as well. On Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Red Lake Girls Softball Team hosted Nevis in a game that was originally scheduled for April 7, 2015, but had to be postponed due to the weather. The girls led at one point 10-7, but a strong comeback by Nevis gave them the victory, 22-11. Red Lake's JV Girls Softball Team also lost to Nevis. CASS LAKE—A Cass Lake teen responsible for setting fires that burned more than 50 acres of wildland near Cass Lake in May has been convicted of arson and ordered to pay more than $160,000 in restitution. Anthony Wittner, 18, was sentenced Tuesday in Cass County District Court to complete a 28-day program at the Northwestern Minnesota Juvenile Center, according to a release from the Cass County Attorney's Office.
