    A new and lethal strain of synthetic heroin resulted in five overdose deaths in Minnesota this year, and officials believe another five undetermined deaths will also be linked to the drug. The five cases are the first confirmed in-state deaths caused by carfentanil, a drug from China that is 100 times more potent than the already dangerous fentanyl.     On Thursday, March 30, 2017 at approximately 0703 hrs., Deputies from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle crash involving an ISD 31 school bus and a passenger vehicle on Irvine Avenue (CSAH 15) and Justice Rd NW in Northern Township. No injuries were reported on the school bus, but the driver of the passenger vehicle, Mason St. Peter, of Solway, MN suffered minor injuries, but declined medical treatment at the scene.
