BEMIDJI -- A Cass Lake man who shot a White Earth man in the leg in September was convicted Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court of felony assault and possession of an assault weapon. Dwight Thomas Jones, 38, was sentenced to 60 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for the felony possession of a pistol or assault weapon charge. He was sentenced concurrently to 57 months in prison for the second-degree assault charge. Jones has been credited with 116 days time served and must pay $100 in fines....
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji woman will spend less than two weeks in jail for aiding an offender who was involved in an assault in September. Ashley Ann Melberg, 20, was sentenced Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court to 12 days in the Beltrami County Jail for a felony aiding an offender charge. Melberg was credited with eight days time served and placed on supervised probation for four years. Melbert must pay a $250 fine. Aiding an offender carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine....
BEMIDJI -- A Redby man was convicted of felony simple robbery Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court. Kyle James Kingbird, 28, was sentenced to 92 days in the Beltrami County Jail. A 23-month prison sentence in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud was stayed for 10 years. Kingbird has been credited with 61 days time served. He has been placed on supervised probation for 10 years and must pay a $1,000 fine....
